THE BRANDERY (BARCELONA/SPAIN 2010)

First of all,

I want to thank you all for your comments in my last post about Barcelona,

all the hard work is worth it after reading such good words about my photos.

I am sorry my posts keep coming so slowly

but because of my job I have little time left to do a proper post more often,

I rather wait and do what I consider a good post than do one I won’t be proud of.

In june,

a shop window I designed for Monkey Garden Shop in Madrid

was selected by “the brandery” jury

and I won a free plane ticket to Barcelona

with and an invitation to the trade fair.

I dont sound very happy

but

I was very happy and proud, :)

“the brandery”

the definitely known as the

“wannabe Bred And Butter”,

and still,

a poor attempt .

I hate to be so categorical,

and I am grateful they invited me, of course,

but I say this,

after spending 2 days in what it look like the ugly sister of a real trade fair.

They are lucky it takes place here:

-As you can see, the spot is quite impressive.-

The place was full of brands I didn’t know,

and for me that was a great opportunity to see new stuff,

meet interesting people and talk about fashion (and business).

They told me,

that the reason there was a small amount of big brands (high street brands)

in The Brandery

was because the fair was too small,

too expensive

and not attracted international business

and

that the place to go was (again) BBB in Germany.

-the place was beautiful at night-

When I visited a brand´s stand,

I could find 2 reactions,

one,

a good reaction

very helpful people

willing to teach me more about their brands,

willing to know about my business

and how I could help them to promote their business.

Like for example:

PEPITO MI CORAZÓN

not only they helped me to know more about their brand

they also gave me a t-shirt

(you can see it further down)

She was the one in charge of helping me to know

the brand better,

I dont (unfortunatly)remember her name

but if she reads this

thank you again!

-All she is wearing is from pepito mi corazón-

YERSE

the clothing was beautiful,
and elegant,
I didnt do any pictures to the clothing because I know they will share that information with us when the moment is right.

(click in the name to see their website)

The set they designed for the trade was beautiful
it was a small autumn garden

The floor was like old broken wood

They even had this beautiful bench

where you could sit down

relax

and see the collection in peace

———————————————————————————————————

well

the second reaction I could get

just the opposite,

there were brands,

small brands

unknown brands for anyone living outside Barcelona

small brands

that if they saw,

a young fella with a camara (I tried to described myself here)

they treated you like if you were nothing,

just some kind of tedious presence,

the result was,

an unpleasant look by those in charge of the stand

and

sometimes (even if you didn’t have your camera on)

they would remind you, you couldn’t take any pictures.

So pitiful they don’t even deserve to be named

But, even if all this sound like a terrible omen for this young trade fair,

I think the opposite, I am positive.

This kind of event is not easy to organize,

and I believe

that if they are determined to improve

and not to repeat this edition’s mistakes,

they will do better and better with time.

They have good people working to be better

I would like to thank Caruline,

of xxl comunicación,

for being a great hostess

and invite me to many events

as the Welcome Party

or the Custo designer runway,

which I finally missed because I had to be in Madrid earlier than expected

(work+work = more work)

:S

——————————————————————————————————————————————

Before I move to analize the “bloggers” meet up

I will show you a few pictures I took during the Feria.

-These stairs lead you to fashion-

Hot was a common enemy-

-There was the opportunity to express my revolution-

-And I thought my revolution was going to be in a flower’s shape-

-There was also a cool hippy van-

And an entrance with a wall full of fishes in their fishbowls

Artist from Docs

Felipe Perdomo

was doing a real piece of art in this wall

A nice couple that posed for my camera

-She didn’t pose, but I like the picture anyway-

The skateboards display was amazing,

each one had something special

(one day I will show mine in the blog too, ;)

And now

the bloggers meeting
or

how unprofessional a bunch of erroneously called bloggers can be.

Well,
there was a so called “bloggers meeting” during The brandery

the meeting started at time,

but even if there was not that big amount of people,

there was no chairs for everyone and people had to be standing on their feet,

but,

not for long,

because 5 minutes after the so called “bloggers meeting” started,

people started to leave the place,

yes,

the meeting was so bad organized,

the speakers so not prepared,

that people

started leaving 5 minutes after the beggining “of the show”

First (and last)

Gala
opened the conference as it was planned in the official agenda,

and for a reason I can’t understand,

she wasn’t prepared,

yes, she did not prepare the entrance to the conference

she was improvising,

she blocked herself repeatedly from the beginning,

she said nothing new,

nothing important,

is not all her fault

the rest were not better either

+

most of them look bored about all this

+

most of them could hardly be considered bloggers

(we should really redefined this concept)

+

So many things more

Made this

so called “bloggers meeting”

a real fiasco

and people

of course

started leaving,

me included

I did some pictures before I left,

you can see clearly their faces and judge this by yourself

————————————————

No, estaba improvisando

they look like they are really bored by this,

they are bored with this,

is not an illusion

it is a fact

-another revealing picture above-
I dont usually talk about problems

and give no solution,

so,

I will definitely come with a few suggestions.

Suggestion number 1.

Don’t chose the speakers yourself, let the people chose.

Suggestion number 2.

Make sure the person introducing the speakers

knows

something about the speakers,

and can introducing them properly (this part was pitiful).

Suggestion number 3.

If you decided one of the speakers

is going make an introduction

please check she has prepared something to say

before she embarrassed herself and embarrassed the organization.

Suggestion number 4.

Do an estimation of how many

is going to assist

and then,

add 100 hundred chairs more (just in case),

is better to have empty chairs,

that people standing up, please.

———————————
—————————————
Later that day,

I was invited to the

Welcome dinner

I met very nice people

as

Agnes Riba

funny and willing to pose and have a laugh at any moment

was fun to spend time with her

-and a beautiful smile-

If you follow my blog for some time now

you know I think the work people do at these events in priceless

I always meet a lot of nice workers who make my day with their smiles

this is one of those cases

she left the tray she was carrying to pose for my camara

And again, I don’t remember her name

But she was wonderful

—————————————

-during the concert-

-the outside fountain at night-

-People having fun during the concert-

-both accessories were very special-

I was impressed with the pictures Yo donna magazine had on display

this one in particular

Mr. Rodic

from FACEHUNTER

use the excuse of the picture I took

to kiss the girl

Now he look more focused than during the conference,

Don´t you think?

-well, these two guys, unfortunately, they are two big names in the blogosphere-

And Gala

-I just wanted to remind her, that this wasn’t the first bloggers reunion in Spain, as she said in her blog, I’ve been in a few already-

And finally,

on my way back to the hotel

-most of the collection of cards and things I got during the trade show-

-And finally, I was back in Madrid-

And after days working in this post,

I am ready for the outside reactions

Thank you again

INAUGURACION “ULTIMAMENTE COLECTIVOA”

Zero estrella
MOG
Namero + www.myspace.com/nameronanuo
Bertone
Seann
Yatusabes
A79
y Santiago Rodriguez

“True graffiti is not a crime”

Efecto Morkey Garden numero 2:

barcelona-1-day-lots-of-pictures

Lately,
I just see blogs full of emptiness,
yes,
blogs sold to magazines,
to cosmetics,
to fashion houses,
to other bloggers
to celebrities
to themselves
Most blogs I really care for have just pictures,
or just words,
in general,
just thoughts,
just heart,
just love

http://contentp.firabcn.es/contenidos/S094010/images/header_background.jpg

this good blogs I follow
remind me why,
even if I could be boring for some people,
or not so easy to read or understand as I wish I could
I am right, in my approach to fashion (in general not in particular)
I work for fashion, for real fashion, for the fashion where buying the right stuff makes the different between gaining money and survive,
or losing money and see yourself in the street
that is one of the most scary things you can experience
but also one of the most exciting and rewarding.
So,
when I see I am being fooled by people with no real talent or good heart,
I get very frustrated.

I want to believe my work is approachable to any person interested in beauty, as me.
I want to believe not anyone can do what I do,
but,
anyone, can enjoy my work and participate to make it different.
http://nuevasemfyc.files.wordpress.com/2009/11/teamwork1.jpg

Well,
A very special person recommend me to do a post about
Barcelona, the city
and then another about “the brandery”, the fashion trade show.

As you already know, I love stories
I love to invent fictional or not so fictional stories with my pictures
to explain things in a different way
So welcome to:

-BARCELONA-
1 DAY - LOTS OF PICTURES

..First..
The metro, the subway, the tube,
everyone on that train looks at you
like trying to figure out where you are going,
is he on vacation?
is he on a business trip?

And finally, you are ready to get in the plane,

you start to check out the people you are going to share a tiny space with
big guys, small guys, children, an interesting lady,
is she looking at me?
or
am I looking at her?
can’t tell, really
but I keep crossing looks
funny…
when I am about to get in a plane this film, always come to my mind:

There are things you wonder if they are possible
or just the result of a creative mind (or sick mind)
watch the film, you will see what I mean.

Now you see the small box with winds you are about to get in
Is that a small hole in the back?
Is that a broken part in the fuselage?
who was crazy enough to invent this human bird?
we don´t think about it that much,
you just want to get in and sit down
you hate queueing
(most people do)
And there you are,
in front of you
too close to miss it
two important phrases (they say)

Of course, how can I forget in case of a plane crush my “life vest is under the seat”?
so helpful, the survivors in LOST used it, to fish?
¬¬
If we have a LOST experience,
who would I be?
the afraid type?
the hero type?
anyway,
I fast turn to read the other phrase

yes, that’s going to help me too
(more LOST images pass my mind)
¬¬

Well,
you feel better when you see the plane made it to the sky
and the wing is not falling off
uff…

After an hour trying to get out the plane and the airport,
you manage to get a bust to the city
all you want is a room,
a shower
and a cold drink
mmm….

When you get to the hotel,
you face reality again
they tell you the agency didn’t do the reservation
yes, don’t use “Atrapalo”
and the result is:

no fridge (no cold drink)
no shower (in your room)
and no way for you to protest
is Sunday (in Spain)

Well, after an hour discussion you get to the bedroom
yes, a room with a bed,
that’s it,
now you know why they are called after that.
¬¬

Anyway, is sunny outside and is
camera time!!!

READY TO SEE THE CITY of:

Give me a B

Give me an A!

Give me an R

Give me a… C

Give me a….
Give me all!!!!

—————————————BARCELONA—————————————-

I like to wonder around and inside cathedrals
If you have studied about medieval times
or you did read
The Pillars of the Earth
by Ken Follett
you will know most things about that time happen inside a cathedral or around it
I like to touch their walls, feel the cold, see the ornaments

Love these colours

A combination between man and goat? horse?

The other thing I find amazing is when you wonder around a city
with no map
and you find
amazing hidden places,
plazas, inside patios,
beautiful façades
terraces with a special light

This kind of patter is common in the city of Segovia

Modern art in the streets

A lost street?

A lost plaza

The inside patio of the catalan’s trippers centre (dunno why they have it)

An small art gallery with a guardian dog, :)

Bikes, and more bikes,
this is a common photo in Barcelona,
people use bikes a lot

I like anything on wood
so natural
so real

More nice and warm wood

Street art, of course

Empty streets or places with something special you can´t describe with words

Industrial beauty

And I couldn’t do a post forgetting about the people
the people of this city
their visitors
their older
their children

The fire fighters,
very important people

A very special dog

2 or 3 generations

Let children be children

The funny couple
More than one hour of fun
thanks girls

And sometimes,
the loneliness of being old

Old rockers never die
they just go live to Barcelona

The youngsters and their crazy instruments

The old crew with their crazy games

“please, don’t get mad”
Such an important phrase when you play among old friends

and of course,
ME

Better here?

well, this is the picture I choose to say good bye
I just
like it. :)

Thanks for being with me through this life trip
